So creepy. The ferris wheel was being spun by the wind, which was creating the airiest of noises, something like children moaning.

It's really awesome though. And just like all the other places we 'snuck' into there were about 20 or so other people who also snuck in. Maybe not so sneaky after all.

When the west was walled this was the only possible way in, unless you were some sort of official. But this is how most of the supplies got in and things. Obviously closed now, it's just as massive space where people go to fly kites and chill out. Literally. It was freezing there.

Teufelsberg in Berlin. Also known as Devils Mountain. The mountain was man made after WWII. It's made of all the rubble of the buildings, which were heaped on top of an old Nazi school that they tried to destroy but it was too strong. Which makes sense to then just cover it with all that rubble. But anyway. On top of the hill is an abandoned monitoring/listening station. It's pretty sweet. There were way more people there then we anticipated but it was still amazing and the views were to die for. They are even going to get their own post.

Gori, the home of Stalin. Yes i saw the house he was born in, no I didn't take a picture because I'm an idiot. It's still situated in it's original position, the rest of the house around it were knocked down because it was a really poor part of the city. so now it sits, covered by a massive concrete roof, in the middle of the main street, next to the Stalin museum.

Once we arrived at the hut we checked the place out and Jacob decided to light the fire in there because it was a bit chilly, you know how it is. however, the fire was obviously not sealed properly and the chimney was blocked. I walked out of the hut for maybe two minutes and on returning I couldn't even see where Jacob was for the smoke.

We opened all the windows and doors and waited outside for it to clear. It looked like the whole hut was on fire. Luckily I doubt that Georgian rangers are very productive.

Needless to say, that night was a bit chilly...though I have to say, not as bad as I had thought.

Niko Pirosmani. Awesome Georgian painter. The most famous of the Georgian artist i think? Either way, he paints awesome animals in a way which make you wander if he ever saw them before. Google him and watch out for the Giraffe, I couldn't find a big enough file to put on here. But it's awesome. I'm sure he was a sweet dude.

More Borjomi.

All these photos above are by Jacob on a stroll around the city. Due to my feeling ill I wasn't really feeling the whole photo thing. This day we went to lunch at an amazing Taverna, we had all vegetable dishes but it was amazing. And there was a sweet Georgian guy setting up his keyboards for some sounds. I imagine it to be a rocking place in the evenings.

But it was an amazing place. What with all the forest surrounding the ramshackle 'city'.

Borjomi. Where the infamous Borjomi mineral water comes from. We went to the park where you can fill your bottle with the stuff. It was warm and smelt very sulfurous and had an even stronger asphalt flavor than the cold sparkling version you buy in shops. I can't stand the stuff, Jacob loves it. I did however drink some because the Georgian food had upset my stomach to no end. Sadly i have no pictures of the food. But it was delicious. Turkish type breads, you know the type, flat and doughy, homemade fresh cheese the texture of mozzeralla, eggplant made into the most amazing dishes such as roasted topped with walnut paste and pomegranate or fried with capsicum and onions in oil. So good. Also they had these dumpling which we stuffed with meat, but you could get the most amazing potato ones and mushroom ones too.

But anyway. Borjomi. We walked around the park. Which is either a theme park in the summer, or like many places in Georgia just contains theme park rides that never get used.

As everywhere the building were amazing and the trees were shedding their leaves in a way I've never seen before.

Whilst in Tbilisi we went and saw Swan Lake (or a weird Georgian interpretation..i think..I've never seen it before. I shouldn't be so judgmental). It was super cheap. The theatre was strange. It was a huge building of which the actual theatre was a very small part. It being refurbished while we were there and so most of it was crumbling. It made for an awesome view while we waited for the show to start.

And then it started and about half of it was really awesome.

The other half just left me feeling confused.

Tbilisi Georgia. You crazy town. With your amazing soviet buildings, some crumbling, some standing in all their heavy glory, your wide streets and your small cobbled street, your old parks and your weird new parks.

You offered me cheap beers, dalmatians that try to steal my camera, sulphur baths in which i was rubbed down, naked, by an old Georgian man; views of forests, churches, monuments, Mother Georgias tight ass and bear skins; not to mention that my boyfriend frequents your streets often.

Georgia was everything I could never have imagined.

Thanks to generous parents and boyfriend I have money to do things like enjoy a Pain Aux Chocolate from a local bakery, where I also bought my baguette for lunch, a cup of tea from my new pot in my new cup. Bit of a disaster with the tea pot because as I was checking my mail the bag broke, which in tern broke the handle of the tea pot! This would not be a big deal, because I can just glue it back together, except that there is a small hole running through the handle, where the tea flowed out slowly but steadily until I had drunk past the handle line! Darn! I'll have to buy glue asap and hopefully that will fix it.

Either way the second hand store, or Bric-a-Brac, is amazing in Lyon! I almost cried with joy at all the things I wanted to buy. But I was good getting only what I need. Including a lovely quilt, which the lady gave me for half price! It the perfect weight and so much more cosy then my sleeping bag! My little studio is starting to feel much more homely now. Thank goodness! I was getting tired of not wanting to hang out at home, and this morning there was a CRAZY thunder storm, which I didn't have to venture out in because my place is nice now :) :) I just need to get some things for the wall above my bed and a bedside something and it will be perfect.

This house is right across the road from my building. Someone lives in it. Its so cool. They have a little court yard where that tree is. The sun sets behind it and it glows this amazing yellow.

I wanted to share some of Jacob's drawings. So over time I will give you a taste of his things (again this is all dependent on finding a scanner to scan any drawings he does). These are drawings from his final project at Uni, so they're from last year but dang it they're freaking awesome. He chose to illustrate Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. Ljubljana is the most beautiful city. A pity on only had one day! But my lovely host showed me how to use the bike system so I biked into town and walked up to the castle and walked along the river. So lovely and Green!

Mini farm time at Jacob's parents. In the evening we started a fire by the sea and toasted Vege Dogs and made cups of tea. We attempted ghost stories but none of us knew any.

When bed time arrived we clambered back to the hut to find the three mattresses already being used. We decided that though it was cold outside the soft ground under the Manuka trees would be nicer then the hard wooden floor.

And it boy was it ever!

(aside from the slight slope that we were on, meaning we had to keep pushing ourselves back up the hill throughout the night.)

Last night I had a semi disaster (it felt full blown at the time).

I'm an idiot and didn't realise you had to have an interview to get my French Student Visa. Of course you do. So I leave on the 28th of July. I haven't applied for my Visa yet. I'm still waiting on an academic transcript (which I also didn't realise I needed). So it's not likely to happen in time.

All this means that I may have to delay my leaving. Which sucks but also means I can stay and make a little more money.

Anyway, after much sobbing and fretting I sent an email to my exchange organiser at uni and I'm waiting on a reply to see what they think of the situation. Then I will know what I have to do. Hopefully it wont involve more stress and tears!

I feel so incredibly stupid for not realising how official getting a Visa is. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

A couple of weekends before we left Wellington Jacob, Sam and I headed out for a night at Cape Palliser.

Its such a sweet drive and they have an awesome hut to stay in which is just an hours walk from the light house.

you have to pass through this crazy little fishing village on the way, where the beach is lined with bulldozers and boat trailers.

We were lucky enough to see one boat being pulled back in, it looked like a bit of a struggle. But they made it in the end.

Jeffery Lewis

When we first moved into our (old) house we had a wee door mouse sharing the kitchen with us. He was a cutey and we named him Jeffery Lewis.

Of course once tugs started hanging around he was always in a little danger and I spent a lot of my time shooing Tugs away from the stove where the little mouse lived.

Sadly Jeffery was caught on night and though we tried to save him he died in Sam's hands, his little heart racing so hard! We though that was that and I wrapped him in a tissue to be buried the next day. I let Tugs back in thinking he could do no more harm but alas Jeffery had a wife and Tugs found her. Thinking it was just Jeffery again I got mad and threw Tugs out with "Jeffery" in his mouth thinking what was the use. I should have saved the poor this and Jeffery could have been buried with his wife.

Anywho, thats him and his burial spot. Poor wee thing. Look how cute he was.

We have left Wellington. I made my course selection for France today and my choices for accommodation last week. Its all go! Jacob's having second thoughts about Korea and may go to Georgia instead, which would be way more awesome and exciting and he wouldn't have to pay back his flight cost when he breaks his contract. Or pay interest on his loan for being overseas for too long.

Before we left Wellington I got all the films I had lying around developed.

This wild wee fellow was only around for a few days. But the days he was were grand. A mischievous, friendly guy he wouldn't let you walk past without a smoochin'. Down to earth cat with a desire for modeling (as can be seen in the top photo) he was never content to stay in one place for long. Train hopping was his nature and so alas he is gone.

Where he is now, we can only imagine, probably somewhere on the southern coast by now...

It's been awhile since I introduced a puss. This is Rodger. He's an oldy but man, hes a goody! His meow is something to be heard. I tried to take a video but he refused to meow. He's pretty much the mob leader of our neighborhood. All the other cats know the rumors from when he was a youngster and so he never gets messed with. They can however go to him for advice, because while he can be cranky and give you a bite, really he loves the attention and the way the cats thinks of him.

A few days ago the weather was pretty crazy around here, it was windy and the ocean on the south coast was rough as hell. There was even a whale that got trapped and smashed up against the rocks, it had a baby but it was only a month or so old so they had to shoot it. We went to go check out the waves and while they were big I guess they weren't as big as they had been. This kind of stuff (amongst other things) is what really makes you realise that as humans, we really have no control, Nature is the ruler of this godamn Earth.

However! You can see I actually spend the majority of my time prancing around in a cat suit. Not really but if it wasn't so itchy I totally would.

Last picture is from my party one the weekend. Shit! It rocked!! It ended with an epic throwing of the stereo off the balcony because I fell onto and it broke. I'm sure there will be more photos of the night to come.

Yesterday was my birthday. And also I finally got myself my own laptop, which came with a free ipod touch! Epp!! So here are some fun ipod camera photos from my day. I arrived at work yesterday afternoon and there was this amazing cake from Jacobs cousin. Ah-Mazing! Jacob also made me a cake which I have yet to try. And I tried my first ever scrumpy-raro slushy. Which was...interesting, yet delicious.

It was the most beautiful day. Sadly I forgot to get any photos of me in my birthday dress. Third year in a row I've worn the same dress.

So! What's it been? Four months or something! Well, time to get back on the band wagon. I'll kick things of with a sample of my summer sewing!

Dress: Design stolen from Lu Flux (who's amazing, I feel terrible for copying but hell I cant afford the real one and plus, it was a few seasons ago anyway!). This was my go to party season dress. A total hit!

Hate this photo so much. But these are wicked shorts for home and beach wear. Spent a lot of time in these on a hammock. Oh, and the top is my great grandmothers. My nana gave it to me a couple years ago and I could feel more special! We have a massive family with MANY girls.

Eek, another Lu Flux copy. I'm sorry but I really am obsessed with her designs and reusing of fabric. And SO easy to make!!

Very standard skirt, but I had been wanting to use this fabric for so long. I managed to borrow a mannequin for the summer from a friend and it's made fitting things a dream! First skirt I've made that fits properly!

But today..I'm going for this combo. Skirt I made and amazingly cute top from amazing amazing friend. Super comfy....

....And if Wellington wasn't so goddamn windy I'd be wearing this hat. But who am I kidding!!

after all my talk of spring being in the air apparently we are being hit with "the biggest storm in the world." Whatever news!! we had a pretty minor thunder and lighting moment at lunch time, so hopefully tomorrow will get a bit more into it.

Thankfully, I got some photos developed and they fit the mood pretty well. I rediscovered how to use my work scanner so hopefully that means more photos coming up!

Have been doing loads of essay writing so have got Pandoras box and Picnic at Hanging rocks to watch (maybe tonight, though I doubt Jacob will be keen!). After filtering through my fav blogs looking for something that say "fav movies" these are two that the library had that looked good. I'm pretty sure I wont be dissappointed.

We've been playing the soundtrack, Sam's learning the songs of guitar so that we can have sing alongs, the boys are making date and honey (?) wine, I'm contemplating dancing around a may pole naked and we're going to have a Wicca themed party in October (our May Day party). ITS JUST SO GOOD!

Its no wonder the parts of ever gentleman stand up to attention when she's around!!

During my life I seem to have missed the part where I should have learnt about various worldly things. For example, the other day I had to ask Jacob about Darwin, then another friend about Marxism and Karl Marx (I spread them out so as not to look to stupid) and then during my religious lecture I realised I must have been one of the very few people who had never heard of Confucius. I also know very little about people like Lenin (though in being told about Marxism I learnt a snippet) and to a lesser extent Mao.

This lack of knowledge mean that I'm always making lists of things to Wiki when I'm at work but more importantly how did this happen?

How did I miss all this?

All through high school I watched t.v. (music t.v's informative right?) listened to the radio (The Rock and maybe a little Z.M. or something) and I read ALOT (mostly adult books from the comedy or mystery section of the TINY Morrinsville library, but still they should have reference to some of this stuff somewhere right?). Anyway I certainly didn't walk around with my eyes closed and my ears off, even though my mouth may have been my main tool at this time.

This lack of general knowledge has left me with a bit of a complex, mainly because the bulk of my friends are super smart and now because of this I find myself trying to 'catch up'.

Does anybody else feel this way? Or was I just an exceptionally self absorbed teenager? I must say I don't ever remember being at all interested in knowing any of that then, and sometimes I feel like the only reason I want to know this stuff now if to 'catch up' though it would be good if when someone's talking about any number of things I actually knew what they were talking about.

Sigh, will I ever be up to scratch now that I'm behind? Considering I still don't even read the news. Hahaha what a contradiction.

Ahh holidays, you are wonderful aren't you!

I've been going book crazy at the library, have really refound my love for photography . After a bit of a lull its been nice to have so many ideas swarming around my head. Here are a few photographs I'm enjoying at the moment. Sorry about the insanely monochromatic post!

I got a film developed just the other day, these are from a wee while back..

And with all this inspiration floating around i got the big ol' camera out and took some Polaroid's...

First: The Tester, which came outlookin pretty swell

These are trying to recreate an image i have had in my head for quite some time, while they look nothing like the image in my mind I like them alot, the second one is by FAR my fav

self portraits will be coming in abundance with the developing of my next film. But this one looks like magic! The glowing light coming from in the kitchen. Its crazy cause its such a tiny picture (being polaroid) but it hold such a vast space..hmmmm

Otherwise I've succeeded in making a cork board..

and some bread to eat with the homemade peanut butter i made..yummo!!

There's also some talk to leaving the city of wellington...plans are in the works but I'm going to have to start taking my camera everywhere to capture this place I've called home for so so long.
