Wordy Update

Photo's will be coming shortly, but in the mean time here is an update in words:

~ We just got back from 2 weeks at home in New Zealand where many tears were shed (in happiness of course) over the marriage of Jacob and my best friends in the entire world. It was the most beautiful and touching union AND reunion, as a lot of our friends traveled from afar to be there.

~ This year sees us moving closer to the sea, though remaining in Korea. We will be moving to Jeju island (where we spent the summer last year) and teaching kindergarten! I can't wait, bring on the never ending song and dance that will be my life from that point on!

~ Being closer to the sea I'm hoping to continue the reading spree that has been Korea. Though I haven't read as much as I thought I've still read heaps and I'm anticipating that evenings by the sea will be spent reading and swimming.
I just finished an amazing New Zealand novel called Sydney Bridge Upside Down. It's described as a New Zealand gothic, which is pretty on the mark. Creepy settings, lurking male characters who remain mostly silent, scenes of running through storms, a sense of innocence regarding love and death and so on and so forth. Very good! I've been reading a lot of rather depressing books lately though, I think I need something more light hearted! Any suggestions?
I have a list of books I'd like to read, but this year I think I will abandon it. It's too much pressure and I often end up not enjoying the books because I feel I must get started with the next one! So in the bin it goes (not really, I will keep it as a reference for when I can't think of what to read next). I'm about to read Room with a View, which I have started once and for some reason put down. At the time I think I didn't like it, but when I think about the story now I can't wait to get back into it!

~ Having been away for a couple weeks we have some TV show watching to catch up on. As well as our regulars of Q.I, Never Mind the Buzzcocks (though I think it's finished for the season) and Bob's Burgers we have recently started watching The Returned, a french show about a small village where people who died return to their homes, looking very much alive and healthy, though hungry and with no knowledge of their death. The vibe is really nice and reminds of a really cool New Zealand series called Top of the Lake (really good! Watch it! It has Peggy from Mad Men in it).
We are also watching Swedish TV show Akta Manninskor (Real Humans). It's science fiction, about incredibly realistic robots and peoples relationships with them. I didn't like the first episode but got hooked pretty fast.
I'm also excited (?) about the new season of Girls. Though I didn't think the 2nd season was as good, I can't help but want to know what's going on with each and every character.
There's some shows I'd like to get started on as well. There's little to no classes for me at school for the next 6 weeks so I'll have plenty of time on my hands! I want to watch:
Brideshead Revisited
Mr Selfridge
...I can't think of the others! I've been away to long and can't find my list ho ho ho haha

~ While we are still in Korea and earning a decent wage I want to purchase some more of the clothes I've been lusting after since forever; get the style I've always wanted going stronger. 60's mod? Meets modern simplistic? I've been inspired by Camille to be conscious about my purchases, really thinking about things before buying them. I've always done shopping in this way. I'm terrible at walking into a shop and just buying some stuff, but while in Korea, where the shopping is pretty incredible, I need reminding more often to think before I buy, so as not to end up with a wardrobe full of nice albeit unwanted clothes.

~ I'd love for this next section to be all the amazing sewing plans I have, alas being in Korea it's not practical for me to have a sewing machine so this will have to wait (omg specially since my Brother is going to be having a baby this year!! I NEED to sew amazing baby things! Can't wait to get back into it.)

~ Just because we've delved into things I miss, I'd love this to be all the amazing new recipes I would try. Cooking is a burden over here, it's hard to find everything you need, not to mention I know 1 person with an oven (this includes my Korean friends and co-workers). I can't wait to get back into bread baking. THOUGH this year in Korea will be more of a challenge as I've gone back to my vegetarian diet. Sick of the guilt and trying to defend my actions to myself I've decided to cut meat again and be happy with myself for a change.

Anywho, that's a little update for ya'll, since I am never really up to date with the goings on in my life.

What are ya'll planning for yourselves this year? And what do you wish you could do but just aren't able to right now? For whatever reason at all.

Photo's up again soon, I promise! x

Thursday

eeepppp Its been awhile my bunnies sorry! But University has been consuming my life. But lucky for me a get some good breaks so heres what I've been doing this last wee second.

Got this wicked top from the op shop yesterday. I think its a boys pajama top but who cares hmm?

Jacob's birthday is coming, as an early birthday present I fixed these StarWars pants I made him a couple years ago. Before they were huge now there just god damn awesome!

March of the Animals on our Fridge.

Portrait Jacob did for my birthday. Its from a photo booth in berlin which originally had Jacob in it too

Placement of portrait on wall with cutey schnuggly bunny and kitty from ash (also a birthday gift)

Super incredible hand-carved-out-of-a-beef-roast-bone-ring made by jacob.

Pretty much only been reading for uni lately. This cultish looking book is about Neo-Platonism. Which I still only vaguely understand. But I'm not to worried anymore anyway.

A Jacob drawing.

New stereo system/amp and speakers from the dump that Jacob found for like a grand total of less then $20. Fucken Aye Man.

And just for a taste of what I've REALLY been doing. The 63 images I have to memorize for my Art History exam
And the state of my desk at the moment. BOoooouuurrrnnnnssss!!

But! I'm heading home tomorrow to do study, schnug and chat with my ma, eat dinner with my brother, chit chat with some old friends and make jam, jam, jam and peanut butter. Yay!!All this after I've been out tonight to a shindig at my old Hostel the St George which is a bit abandoned at the moment and someone had the brillo idea of having a party there! Cant wait, even though I'm still crazy tired from last night and have work tomorrow. pfffffff.
Happy weekending folks! x

Wednesday

So I woke up this morning and i had finished all my essays. well i went to bed and they were done, they didnt finish themselves I'm so excited for the holidays. 2 weeks of basically doing whatever i want! Yay!
My birthday was the other day. My friend Nina and I went and got new hair dos. Heres my sporting mine..
Book I'm planning on reading in the holidays. I love childrens books (even though this is more a grim adult book). Other books I have bought to read include, blakc beauty, the magic pudding which i actually got given by my old boss, Alice in Wonderland, Anne of green gables and the road to Oz. If only i had more time!!
Got some vinyl the other day for the first time in ages. Pitty we don't have a player at the moment or I'd be enjoying them more.
Birthday breakfast. Take note of the awesome elephant teapot. By lovely friend Ashleigh got it for me.
Cat that was hanging out around our house a little while back. I can't for the life of me remember it name. But Tugs wasn't having a bar of it hanging around even though it already had the saddest face ever. Poor little fluff ball.
Well I better go have some breakfast and hand in my essays. Yippee!!
