(W)WP ~ Te Aroha

Last weekend we hiked Mt Te Aroha. Jacob and Sam had never done it, I'd done it when I was, like, 8 or something. And man, I am proud of my 8 year old self! It's not super long. It maybe took us 2 and a half hours to get to the top or something. But shish, it's quite the climb. 

Anyway, it was such a nice day. We could see so far once we got to the top. Oceans and islands and farmlands abound. 

After we had fish and chips with my Nan, with obligatory whiskeys as well of course!

I'll be missing this weekend as I'm visiting my brother, but I'm excited for our next Waikato Weekend Peak! Woop!

(Waikato) Weekend Peaks (WWP)

 We've been tramping/hiking on the weekends! (also omg we are back in New Zealand). We're trying to do a tramp a week. Jacob only has Sundays off, so thats the day. 

Our first week back we walked up Wairere falls. Such a cool spot! And doesn't take too long, though it is pretty steep. It's so nice and peaceful at the top, and with a cup of peppermint tea from the thermos in hand it made for a satisfying first "peak" (note; it is not a peak but I'm going to be lenient with the word)

I'm pretty excited about the impending summer (even after 5 weeks in the Philippines....more on that later when I have photos to show), I've got a bit of sewing to show case. So good to be back where I can sew and bake and do things I love. Even though I miss kimchi like made (but don't worry we have some in our fridge hohoh)

New Land for Living

Well, we have moved! We now live on a wee island south of Korea called Jeju, which you might recall from such events as our summer vacation last year.

We have a car, and the tiniest apartment known to man, which we will be moving out of and hopefully closer to the beach you see above at the end of March.

If you look close in the first two photos you can see some divers, these are women, called Haen-yo in Korean. They are pretty old, you often see the hunched over shucking their days catch. Back in the day only men were charged tax, so the women were sent out to dive for food. They continue to do so, though the tradition is dying out, which is a shame. It's a cool thing to see, they normally dive in pairs or groups and when they surface they whistle to each other. Anyway, it's cool.

The beach below is about a half hour drive from our house, and as you can see it's covered in plastic right now. Pretty freaking odd. But it was really windy so I guess it was nice not to have the stinging sand in your face.

Can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can go swimming! Though it is definitely warmer here then on the main land!

Weekend antics.

It's holidays at the moment for me. Normally I would be well up and doing thing by now. In fact I get up earlier in the holidays because I actually have so much I want to do. Today, however, it is 10 30 and I'm still in bed. 

Shit rarely even gets that real on the weekend!

But I have been sewing up a storm. 

I'll do a little show and tell at the end of the two weeks.

Our car was broken into on the weekend. Ol' Leroy now has a smashed window. He's had a few trials this year but he keeps on trucken, he takes us on good road trip, most recently this one:

So I woke up this morning and i had finished all my essays. well i went to bed and they were done, they didnt finish themselves I'm so excited for the holidays. 2 weeks of basically doing whatever i want! Yay!
My birthday was the other day. My friend Nina and I went and got new hair dos. Heres my sporting mine..
Book I'm planning on reading in the holidays. I love childrens books (even though this is more a grim adult book). Other books I have bought to read include, blakc beauty, the magic pudding which i actually got given by my old boss, Alice in Wonderland, Anne of green gables and the road to Oz. If only i had more time!!
Got some vinyl the other day for the first time in ages. Pitty we don't have a player at the moment or I'd be enjoying them more.
Birthday breakfast. Take note of the awesome elephant teapot. By lovely friend Ashleigh got it for me.
Cat that was hanging out around our house a little while back. I can't for the life of me remember it name. But Tugs wasn't having a bar of it hanging around even though it already had the saddest face ever. Poor little fluff ball.
Well I better go have some breakfast and hand in my essays. Yippee!!

So I'm missing the north already. We attempted a swim yesterday and almost froze our paws off! Not fun. But then I just told myself it was like swimming in a mountain river. Prefurable in my nanas togs.

Before we left to come back down to wellington we had a lovely picnic in the woods at Jacobs house for his mamas birthday. Its was so lovely. There were ferry lights, delicous foods and amazing company. All amoungst the tree.

Then we went of and watch King Kong in the botanical gardens. Its was incredibly hilerious.
