Sunday

(Waikato) Weekend Peaks (WWP)

We've been tramping/hiking on the weekends! (also omg we are back in New Zealand). We're trying to do a tramp a week. Jacob only has Sundays off, so thats the day.
Our first week back we walked up Wairere falls. Such a cool spot! And doesn't take too long, though it is pretty steep. It's so nice and peaceful at the top, and with a cup of peppermint tea from the thermos in hand it made for a satisfying first "peak" (note; it is not a peak but I'm going to be lenient with the word)

I'm pretty excited about the impending summer (even after 5 weeks in the Philippines....more on that later when I have photos to show), I've got a bit of sewing to show case. So good to be back where I can sew and bake and do things I love. Even though I miss kimchi like made (but don't worry we have some in our fridge hohoh)
Peace
xx

Wednesday

Here are the glorious good times. There was a fantastic dance "floor" slash area of grass, which was well used.
The next day was so fantastically sunny, but also rushed and emotional saying goodbye to friends who we don't know when we will see again! Hopefully it's not too long.
Below is a view of the tree which holds the treehouse where Nina and Vince spent the night, and myself with Ash, a fantastic person I miss to death.

Monday

Our plans are up in the air for next year. Home? Turkey? Japan? Jeju island? A mix of all of the above? Live is hard, exciting things are happening back home, which it would be nice to be involved in. But are we ready? Going home seems serious, seems like, getting a good job and looking into buying some land. Exciting, but are we ready? Is it financial viable? Should we stay where we have good paying work?
Fuck. Life.

Sunday

Man, look at that ocean.
The cafe GRI:M (which means picture in Korean I think) was awesome, owned by a girl who lived in NZ for a year! And awesome coffee and grapefruit-ade.
It looks like I'm pashing that dog, and maybe I was, it's none of your business.

Friday

So, the first half of our trip, along with a separate trip to Jeju that we made with my parents, go undocumented because A) the film wasn't loaded properly in the film camera B) I left out digital camera in a taxi (along with all our keys, a jumper and many other things) so film is the only thing we have. This means your just getting the tail end of our trip, which is sad and makes me wonder what had been captured before! When I saw these photos I was blown away at how well they came out. It really just looks like it did at the time.
The there's a wee photo of me in my sun protection get up, with out tent and bikes in the back ground.

Thursday

Norebang!
No birthday would be complete without singing with your friends in a small (or spacious) room!
Wearing sunglasses inside is mandatory for mega coolness and playing tambourine until you have a bruised palm is also part in parcel with the experience.
Do not leave until sunrise.

Monday

That top photo, taken by Vince, is maybe the best photo ever. What timing! The popping of a cork has never been captured so well.
We celebrated my birth on the beach eating cake and drinking cheap champagne. Pretty fantastic. And with the best people of course.
I'm not so hot on this whole film of black and white. They came out quite murky. Was it the film? Or the processing? One can never say...or can they? Either way, Jacob liked them, so I decided to share.

Tuesday

I nested the idea for these photos for so long. So long that at the last minute, before we left Wellington, I just had to do it.
And. You know what. I love them. Normally when I plan photos they don't come out how I'd have liked. But these, the colours. The light spots in the window.
I've been shy to put them up. But, hell, here they are.

Saturday

Sewing update! And I cut off my hair! I like how in the middle photo it makes me look like I have no nose what-so-ever. Cause I don't. So it's accurate. (hahaha)
Anyway. I had my biggest sewing achievement ever this weekend. A while back I made these pants but they were totally ill fitting and I thought I'd just chosen a shitty fabric and sucks and making pants and that there as no way to save them.
HOWEVER after a month of them sitting on my sewing chair I tackled them yesterday. And they have turned out amazing! They fit like a dream (though they are still slightly loose around the waist but I think this might be okay cause then I can eat, like, heaps of cheese burgers without worrying about my pants splitting!) and are just super confortable. Thank you weird stretch fabric that kind of looks like gym pant fabric!
I also made another bra, which I'm wearing in them picture. Made a couple alterations. It's still not perfect but it's definitely getting there!
And also, I removable leather bib! It also fits onto the black shorts I made and I want to be able to put it on a black skirt I have too, if I can be bovvered sewing more buttons then that should happen pretty soon.
oh shiet! I almost forgot the dress. It is also perfect (hah! cause I'm awesome and have NO faults). Exactly what I want so nice and loose and floaty and from the most amazing silk ever.
ssqquuueeeeeeeeee
so excited :)
next I plan on making something much more colourful.

Sunday

More sewing. It's pretty sweet wearing completely home made outfits.
Adventuring into bra making has been sweet. This was the first I had made and it turned out pretty well. All it needs it adjustable straps and it would be perfect. I have a couple of other patterns to try out this week but I'm also endeavoring to make some pants and a dress. We will see how the week plays out!
Also, those shorts turned out amazing. They are a little big so I have to wear a belt. But thats better than small I say!

Saturday

Chilling at the beach upon return from Europe with my brother and some friends.
Just chillen really.
Can't wait to be back at this spot. We're planning a live-at-beah summer and it can't come soon enough.

Wednesday

Home.
At home I frolic and rollick with the dog, which never comes to my calls. (I'm calling him in the first photo, he just sat there with his head tilted to one side). I eat soup in the sun and never have to wear my coat. There are babies and chickens. And we listen to vinyls in the garage drinking coffee.
It's pretty nice.
Can't wait for our next visit.

It's holidays at the moment for me. Normally I would be well up and doing thing by now. In fact I get up earlier in the holidays because I actually have so much I want to do. Today, however, it is 10 30 and I'm still in bed.
Shit rarely even gets that real on the weekend!
But I have been sewing up a storm.
I'll do a little show and tell at the end of the two weeks.

A special wish of good luck to my American friend who is leaving New Zealand today. See you soon!!

Tuesday

Sunday

Our car was broken into on the weekend. Ol' Leroy now has a smashed window. He's had a few trials this year but he keeps on trucken, he takes us on good road trip, most recently this one:

and this is what he were doing while Leroy was getting smashed into:

woops!
